About Mike E. And The Hound Dogs

Mike "E." Calamusa
Lead Vocals

Mike comes from an Italian background and was born and raised in the Toronto / Mississauga area. Mike has always been known as “Elvis,” a nickname the guys gave him at work years ago. Mike’s likeness and mannerisms are similar to the one and only “King of Rock’n Roll,” Elvis Presley.

Mike started taking “Elvis” seriously a few years ago. Mike is proud to say it started in a small town in Prince Edward County called Milford. There he participated in a musical called, “Elvis Is In The Building.” Mike enjoyed performing in this show and continued performing, joining a band called “The Cadillac’s.” Travelling the countryside with a 13-piece band, Mike learned to love the power of a live band and the energy of the audiences. Mike also started competing in various Elvis Festivals. In the summer of 2004 Mike took 3rd place in the 10th Annual Collingwood Elvis Festival. Later that year, Mike traveled to New York and entered the Pro Division of the Lake George Elvis Festival and placed 3rd. Mike “E” and his Hounddogs had a busy year in 2005, but still managed to enter a few contests. Mike was invited to participate in the Lady Luck Music’s “People’s Choice Awards” and placed 1st over all. He then returned to Collingwood for a 3rd place finish once again and traveled back to New York to finish in the top 7 of the Pro Division of the Lake George Elvis Festival.

Mike feels that all the members of the Hound Dogs are very talented musicians and he is very fortunate to perform with them. Here's some info on the members of The Hound Dogs:

Bill Hughes
Lead Guitar/Vocals

Bill has many years of playing experience from Rock & Roll to Big Band Sounds. It is his love for 60’s Rock & Roll that brought Bill to The Hound Dogs.

Knowing Bill’s dedication to the music and its’ authentic sound, it wasn’t long before there was six more enthusiastic members.

Ed Quinn
Drums/Vocals
Ed brings 25+ years experience to the rhythm section of The Hound Dogs. He has traveled throughout Ontario, Quebec and the U.S. playing in professional Rock, Country and R & B bands.

Raised in Toronto and Belleville, Ed continues to call the Quinte area his home.

Kelly Salamanchuk
Bass Guitar/Vocals

Kelly has been playing bass for over 20 years. Having started playing keyboards and moving to guitar he came to the bass in the traditional way. He quickly felt at home on the instrument, playing for the first time professionally three weeks later. He went on to play in many different bands ranging from New Country, Old Rock & Roll, Jazz and Alternative.

Having played so many different styles Kelly jumped at the chance to play some of the most influential bass lines of the twentieth century.

Duncan Cooper
Keyboards/Vocals

A native of Hamilton Ontario, he has gigged professionally for over 20 years. Recently, Duncan
has played in the Quinte and Kingston area with such bands as the R and B Boys and the Groove Trio.

Duncan's other accomplishments include studio work for diverse acts such as Sweet Harmony, the Red Dog Willie Band and Juno-nominated Vasco Da Silva’s “Winged Impulse”.

Vicki Wallace

Vicki has been playing and singing mostly Country music since the age of 12. She enjoys music and entertaining audiences all over and of all ages Vicki was part of such bands as The Friendships, Country Limits and Winchester. She enjoys entering song and vocal contests such as the Simcoe and North Bay Open.

Her experience makes her a real asset to The Hound Dogs.
